ZHANG Shizhao (1881-1973), styled Rigorous Conduct, a native of Shanhua (present-day Changsha), Hunan Province. He was a professor at Tongji University and Peking University, and General Secretary of Justice and that of Education in the Northern Warlords Government of China (1912-1928). The poet authored The Gist of Logic, The Gist of Liu Zongyuan’s Articles, etc.（王佩译）
